Studio SloMo is a design and letterpress company straight out of beautiful Austin, Texas! Sarah, the owner, is super sweet and awesome at what she does! She's also multi-talented - she works at Rosehip Flora, too, one of my favorite florists in town. Check out her beautiful work!

Burst of Color

This palette was inspired by Mr. Matt W. Moore, an artist known for his use of shape and color. He is pretty much amazing at whatever he does. I particularly love his use of color in this piece [middle photo] and it would translate beautifully to a wedding, especially in the fall with those delicious warm tones. I someday would like to design a wedding channeling MWM - how fun! Enjoy.

Board {Bright Geometric}

Today's inspiration is about shapes and bright colors like fuchsia and gold accented by subtler pale pink, yellow, and cream. I have quite the affinity for shaped paper goods - honeycombs, paper fans, poms - love 'em all - this could stem from my secret love of math. Oh, yes, and an affinity for pink - which stems from my not-so-secret love of, well, pink.

Let's plan something with tons of shapes to catch the eye and some bright colors (does not have to be pink or fuchsia...promise).

Happy Friday, everyone! Enjoy your spooktacular weekend.

Details {Colorful Southwestern}

Well, if I had to pick two things I love, I would easily name color and pattern! I think the southwest provides inspiration that beautifully encompasses both of those. Now, I know this board's a little on the colorful side, but these details would look fabulous paired with neutral, simple accents, like wood or cream linen.

Go crazy planning your southwestern-themed wedding!

Etsy Shoppin' {The Gilded Bee & Homako}

Two great shops to share with you to fun up your special day.

The Gilded Bee has tons of supplies to make the little details at your wedding or party big-time special! Imagine a streamer garland taken to the next level with strands of these beautiful materials. Or wrapping up some precious favors with sparkly ric rac or velvet ribbon. Moms and grandmas could look super stylish in a floral or ombre feather corsage. Endless possibilities! Yum.

Homako is a super cute jewelry shop specializing in quirky, geometric necklaces. Bridesmaids would pop in these fresh designs on the big day. And, they would make great bridesmaids' gifts with most items in the shop under $40.

Ahhhh today was a good Etsy day.

Etsy in Spain perhaps!

I am very fortunate that, as part of my work, that I am introduced to some hugely talented and creative people. I am always attracted to the people that have that certain style and more importantly are working very hard, are passionate about what they create and are reliable.

Recently a jewellery maker was bought to my attention by Sweet Things by Fi at one of our design meetings in our studio.

Fi had bought some of Sharon´s creations including some gorgeous wine glass charms, bracelets and key rings all made out of beautiful crystal beads. We discussed various ideas of how they could be used for our weddings either as gifts for bridesmaids and favours.

Shortly after this one of my friends was struggling to find a good supplier for a Breast Cancer charity night to provide some pretty gifts for her fundraising.

Having spotted this plea on Facebook, I asked Fi whether Sharon could make up 40 crystal bracelets with 3 days notice and lo and behold a wave of the magic wand produced not just 40 to die for pink and clear crystal bracelets but beautifully presented in pink organza bags and tied with gorgeous tags.

We were delighted, and so was Maryanne, the organiser of this event.

Our thanks to Sharon at Lovelissimo Designs for helping us out at such a short notice and we hope to work with Sharon a lot next year to produce favours, bridesmaids thank you gifts and just general gorgeousness!

Sharon´s new venture can be found on Facebook and her website.

Colorful Retro

How fun would it be to attend a wedding inspired by this color palette? Or, even better, have YOUR wedding be inspired by it? With bold retro graphics and pops of color accented by subtle neutrals, this wedding has total eye candy potential! This is a fun and not-so-traditional palette for a fall wedding.

Calling all Wedding Vendors!

I am delighted to invite all Wedding Library Vendor Members and their guests to hear about how small business owners manage growth and build companies on their own terms. The wedding industry is full of talented, passionate artists -- this is an opportunity to learn how to balance that creativity and love of weddings with running a business. Amy Abrams and Adelaide Lancaster have just published "The Big Enough Company" where they profile small businesses (like the Wedding Library) and reveal the lessons learned by these entrepreneurs. Join me and your peers as we discuss creating a business that works for you.
Amy Abrams and Adelaide Lancaster are the founders of In Good Company, a collaborative workspace for women business owners in New York City. They also work as consultants and business advisors, and their work has been featured in The New York Times and MSNBC. I've known these ladies for many years; they have a true insight into the entrepreneurial spirit!
Here's the book, it's available at Amazon, and at our event!
The event is this Tuesday, October 25 from 3-5pm.
There will be a special guest introduction by
Darcy Miller, Martha Stewart Weddings Editorial Director

Special Note: "The Big Enough Company" got too big! Due to (much) higher response than expected, we will email all respondees with the change of address:
Same day, same time, but we'll be at the lovely
Townhouse at Park Avenue Autumn, 100 East 63rd Street (at Park Avenue).

Bouquets {Ribbon}

The perfect way to have a unique bouquet that stands out in a crowd? Put a ribbon (or ribbons) on it! I love how these bouquets are taken to the next level by some pretty serious ribbon. Gotta love a good stripe, too.

Planning {Lori + Nathan}

Recently, my bestest friend, Lori, and her adorable fiance, Nathan, tied the knot at the San Antonio Botanical Garden. The best way I can describe the wedding style is eclectic, vintage, fiesta! It was a colorful blast! I took on a few projects for the wedding including bright, big poms for the aisle and a fun honeycomb garland for the arbor area. I also helped Lori plan the design portion throughout the planning process - one of my absolute favorite things to do!

The wedding design incorporated tons of great details: colorful, vintage vessels for flowers and desserts; a green, golden yellow, and fuchsia color palette; succulent favors; a "cake bar"; and fun ribbon streamer wands to send them off into marital bliss in style! With Katherine O'Brien Photography of Austin snapping the wedding pictures, it's a wedding designer's dream come to fruition! Will post those pics when available.

Congratulations, Lori + Nathan! {10.01.2011}

One Dress, Four Ways

I absolutely loved working on this project for New York Magazine's current Weddings issue. Four stylists were given this simple wedding gown to style in any creative way. I love the juxtaposition of high/low, simple/outlandish, leather and lace. My look is the biker chick (chic). Click on the image to see the details better. I paired our wonderful feather collar by Dana Michele with a leather tuxedo jacket -- it has tails!! Giant crystal stud Balenciaga earrings balance off the glam Untamed Petals sash. Gabriella New York helped us out with the shoes -- altogether a cool look, no?
One amazing part of the experience was working with the hair, makeup and model. As you can see, she is completely transformed in each look. The stylists whipped the model into shape in minutes and really captured the vibe I was looking for. Makes me think every bride should try out a bunch of looks for their big day...

Campsite Wedding

Gorgeous Flamenco Style Wedding at El Oceano, Marbella

On a gorgeous day in September we were thrilled to be overseeing and decorating the stunning wedding of Sarah and Michael.

A moving church ceremony was held at the Encarnacion Church, just near the Orange Square in Marbella Old Town followed by cocktails in the square and then the wedding party headed to the fabulous Oceano Hotel for a beachside reception.

Sarah is actually a neighbour of mine as her mother lives near me, and I was delighted when they approached me to ask if we could finalise their wedding details and take over their files to look after them on this very special day.

Carla of course immediately took charge and Sarah visited our shop a few times to finalise the flowers and decor details for her flamenco styled wedding.

Loraine created gorgeous bridal bouquets in vanilla roses to compliment the bridesmaids dresses and Anoulka designed flamenco dancer stationery to compliment the stunning cake that Fi created for Sarah and Michael. I have to also admit we are all in love with Sarah´s dress so I will ask her next time I see her where it is from, as I know I will be asked!

A truly fantastic day was had by all and of course it could not be complete without Sarah entertaining her guests with her fantastic singing Wonderwall was sung especially for Michael.

Our thanks to Jeremy Standley for allowing us to share these fabulous photos.

Our congratulations to Sarah and Michael and hopefully see you both soon!
